(5 customer reviews)

Good to know: this is a cd created by Margriet Sjoerdsma under her artist name ODELION.

Here you can already listen to how this cd sounds.

It is indeed Margriet who’s singing and who wrote most of the songs. The album is produced by Swedish producer Tobias Fröberg, who previously worked with Ane Brun, one of Margriets favourite artists. The cd was received very well by the Dutch press. It is a mixture of folk, jazz and pop.

The Dutch press wrote:

ODELION is a Dutch new pearl that needs to be discovered
*****

Call it folk, call it pop, in gods name call it jazz: ODELION touches many genres, is melancholic and harmonic and sounds like an organic album, which is quite an achievement *****

How to describe ODELION’s music. It is a bit like Tom Waits, Berthold Brecht, David Sylvian and Mathilde Santing are in one band. It has a jazzy side, but also a Berlin roaring 20s edge, combined with that indie Tom Waits thing. If you like your music away from the mainstream, you’re gonna love this.
Stand out tracks to me are Forgiveness and Bitter kiss of happiness (I love with the bass line :)).
Check the ODELION orchestra album and the Eva Cassidy tribute album as well.

Heel mooi, buitengewoon muzikaal. Jazz, folk, soul…?, binnen geen enkel genre te vangen, dus bovenal verrassend origineel met fraai gearrangeerde begeleiding.
